The painting is the story of found objects. I am fascinated by the artifacts discovered by those trying to learn about our predecessors on this Earth. I was thinking about the range of stories they carry, from legendary relics unearthed in Aztec civilizations, to the treasures of the pyramids, to the modest cookware pulled from the rubble of ruined villages.
We have much to learn from our ancestors, from their tools and their trophies, clues to the stories they left for us to pass on. I love to imagine the lives of the people who used these treasures, and also the lives of those who one day will sift through the relics of our own present lives.
