Description
The whole process of painting in winter, with the rain hammering down outside. Hands stuffed deeply into pockets while dragon breath fumes out as I order a coffee.
The painting was about keeping the colour bright against these grey days.
My brush buckets collecting the drips of water outside my studio. The damn oil washes taking days to dry leaving you awake at night waiting thinking about solutions to tackle painterly problems.
Wanted to call it all sorts of things too. ‘River Phoenix’, ‘Dragon fruit’ and of course Enya’s ‘Sail away’.
Luckily all of those triggered the reject button, because I feel this title properly highlights the individual shapes, colours and details in the painting without given them a literal description that would sway your thinking.
